Overview

This masterclass is an intensely practical guide on flood modelling for non-modellers. This masterclass will explore modelling software, the application of this software, data and the scoping and managing of flood modelling projects from a non-technical perspective. The masterclass will also provide practical guidance on common mistakes made by modellers that non-technical staff can check for along with flood modelling case studies with lessons learnt and a manager’s modelling checklist.

Blake Boulton

Managing Director

Water Modelling Solutions PTY LTD

Blake Boulton is the Managing Director for WMS Engineering, a position he has held since founding the business in 2012. As Managing Director, Blake leads and sets the vision for the dedicated team of water modelling professionals spread across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Cairns. Blake has 20 years specialist experience undertaking flooding and drainage studies, linear infrastructure design, flooding and drainage investigations, development assessments and developing forecasting systems. Blake has experience both as a consultant and as a client-side project manager.

Prior to founding WMS Engineering, Blake worked for DHI as Business Area Manager for their flood consulting business activity nationally. In addition to strategically positioning DHI’s flood modelling team within the Australian water industry, Blake managed the development of several software tools and regularly provided training and advice to key clients throughout Australia.

Blake holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Engineering from Griffith University and is a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ).
