Finance is the root of how business makes money and language of business in numbers! Unfortunately, still many key decision-makers and core team members struggle to speak the language of business and are making decisions based on assumption, gut-feel and a few rule-of-thumb. In addition, they are heavily dependent on the finance department and accountants without understanding the financial implications of their own decisions, as they believe they are a non-finance person. In this one-day masterclass – Finance for Non-Finance Managers (FNFM), participants will realise if their decision affects the bottom-line of their organisation then they are a finance person. As the saying goes, “A chain is as strong as its weakest link.”. Similarly, an organisation is as strong and/or effective its weakest decision-maker.
The FNFM masterclass is specifically designed for management professionals with little or no accounting and finance background. The content has been prepared after researching hundreds of failed companies and studying the fatal mistakes made by so-called non-finance people. This masterclass will equip the participants with the ability to analyse financial reports irrespective of the size of the data, as they will learn to extract relevant information by processing any financial data with simple proven steps. This will boost their confidence not only to interact with financial experts but also to make informed-profitable decisions based on facts and not mere assumptions.
This interactive masterclass will be delivered using industry case studies, practical examples, real-life experiences, and above all, it is intentionally designed to make the subject finance, fun to learn. The participants will gain vital skills in forecasting, budgeting, costing, assessing opportunity cost, interpreting financial statements, and most importantly being proactive rather than busy firefighting.
The main objective of the masterclass is to equip participants to make informed-profitable decisions that affect the bottom-line positively by understanding numbers that in turn will help their organisation to make more money than it spends.
At the end of the masterclass, participants will be able to:
- Analyse the three key financial statements – Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement
- Understand and use financial terms with confidence
- Implement cash management practices
- Plan, develop, implement and control budgets
- Measure risk and recognise financial warning signs
- Perform financial ratios analyses to evaluate the health of the organisation
- Gain a vital understanding of the financial impact of their decisions on the organisation
- Minimize risk and maximize results by doing less.
